Extra Special Teas founder to be honored as unsung hero

GREAT BARRINGTON — Cherri Sanes, the founder and executive director of Extra Special Teas in Great Barrington, has been selected by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women as one of the commonwealth's Unsung Heroines of 2017.

The award goes to women who have been nominated by legislators from their districts and were selected for their contributions to the community and the commonwealth. The recognition ceremony for the 2017 winners will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Statehouse in Boston.

Extra Special Teas opened in April 2016 as the first nonprofit tea house operated by special needs adults.
