LEE — State police, in coordination with Lenox and Pittsfield police, Berkshire Mountain Search and Rescue and other first responders, searched Tuesday in an area near Woods Pond for a missing Pittsfield resident.

The person's vehicle was found abandoned on Roaring Brook Road adjacent to October Mountain State Forest shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, police said. A brief search was conducted before dark and was relaunched on Tuesday morning, where the search went throughout the day with Massachusetts State Police troopers, K9, Air Wing, local fire and police and Environmental Police officers. The search will continue on Wednesday.

The missing person had been described by Pittsfield Police as possibly suicidal. The abandoned vehicle had been traced via a SiriusXM Onstar system to a location at the Lee-Lenox line on Roaring Brook Road.

State police helicopters were assisting in the effort, and the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office provided a fleet of ATVs for the search team to access the area.
