WAM slates "Virgin Trial" reading

Posted
LENOX — WAM Theatre's 2018 Fresh Takes play reading series continues 7:30 p.m. Thursday with Kate Hennig's "The Virgin Trial," the second play in a trilogy that began with "The Last Wife," which WAM presented in a fully staged production last October.

The reading will be at Shakespeare & Company's Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre, 70 Kemble St.

"The Virgin Trial" explores victim-shaming, sexual consent, and the extraordinary abilities of girls who are becoming women as Hennig reimagines the little-known story of Elizabeth the First, before she was queen.

David Joseph and Alicia Piemme Nelson will reprise their roles as Tom and Bess. In addition to Nelson and Joseph, the cast features MaConnia Chesser, Kristen Anne Ferraro, Thom Garvey, Lia Russell Self and Ryan Winkles.

Kelly Galvin is directing.

The performance will be followed by a talkback with the cast and director.

Ticket information is available online at wamtheatre.com/the-virgin-trial/ and the Shakespeare & Company box office, 413-637-3353.
