Town Players slates play reading auditions

PITTSFIELD — Town Players of Pittsfield is holding auditions Tuesday for a staged reading of "Welcome to the Moon and Other Plays," a collection of six short plays by John Patrick Shanley, an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and theater and film director.

Auditions begin at 6 p.m. in K-110 in Berkshire Community College's Koussevitzky Arts Center.

Each actor will play multiple roles.

Directed by Kevin McGerigle, "Welcome to the Moon and Other Plays" features six different stories set in locations all the way from the Wild West to Central Park at night.

Shanley's play, "Doubt: A Parable," won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play. He won the 1988 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for his film "Moonstruck".
