Tennis and lacrosse roundup: Lee girls tennis tops Sabis

Posted
LEE — The Lee girls tennis team was missing some players due to school vacation, but the Wildcats didn't let that bother them as they beat visiting Sabis 3-2.

Up 2-1 after the singles matches, the fate of the contest was put into the hands of the doubles teams. Lee's top doubles pair on the day lost in three sets, but the duo of Michele Belliveau and Halle Miller defeated Magdalena Bania and Beyonca Twiggs to swing the match Lee's way.

"It was really great," Lee coach Norma Comalli said of the doubles matches. "All four of the doubles girls worked really hard. ... I was proud of the girls, they have worked really hard this week to prepare, and they did really well."

Miller was playing in her first match on varsity, as was Rachel Wendling in first doubles with teammate Erin Brisebois.

Lee is 2-0.
