Rugg Bridge in Sandisfield closed this week for repairs

Posted

SANDISFIELD — The Rugg Bridge, aka "the iron bridge," will be closed this week while repairs are made to the structure.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic, at all times, through at least spring of 2018, according to a notice on the Sandisfield town website.

An "alternating one-way" detour will be established along River Road and will be controlled by traffic light.

The rebuilding of the bridge on Route 57 over the Clam River was made possible by a $1 million state grant and up to $420,000 from the town, an expenditure that was approved in town meeting.
