Pittsfield man drowns while boating in Charlotte, Vt.

Posted

CHARLOTTE, Vt.— Vermont state police are investigating why a Pittsfield, Mass., man drowned at a local marina over the weekend.

Early Saturday evening, troopers from the Williston Barracks were notified of an abandoned boat found idling near the docks at the Point Bay Marina in Charlotte.

Emergency personnel sent to the scene later located a male body identified as 64-year-old David Clement. He was found in the water approximately 30 feet from shore, near where the boat was located. Troopers say Clement was returning to his slip at the marina when he apparently fell into the water and drowned.

The case remains open and anyone with information or who was in contact with Clement on Saturday should call the state police at 802-878-7111.
