Peru town election June 9; voter registration deadline Saturday

PERU — Residents have until 8 p.m. Saturday to register to vote in the annual town election June 9.

There are no contested races on this year's ballot. Darryl Darby is running as a write-in candidate for the open spot on the Financial Board, a five-year term.

A voter registration session is scheduled for May 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. in the town clerk's office.

Applications for absentee ballots must be received by noon on June 8. The town clerk's office will be open that day from 10 a.m. to noon. Absentee ballots must be received by the time polls close on election day.

While there are no contested races on this year's ballot, Peggy White is also running as a write-in candidate for the open one-year term as constable. White is also seeking a return to her post on the Board of Health.

Incumbents seeking re-election include

Edward Munch Jr., Select Board; Kim Leach, town clerk; and Coralie Pelkey, constable. Richard Nelson is running for a five-year term on the Planning Board.
