Man, 70, hospitalized after being struck by car in Dalton
DALTON — A 70-year-old pedestrian was in critical condition Tuesday evening after he was hit by a car on Main Street earlier in the day.
John Rudin, of Dalton, was crossing the street in the vicinity of the Dalton Citgo at about 8:30 a.m. when he was hit by a white 2012 Hyundai Sonata driven by 33-year-old Dalton resident Amanda Rivers, said Dalton Police Chief Jeffrey Coe in an email.
Rivers was heading west on Main Street and Rudin suffered serious injuries, according to the chief.
Rudin was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and then flown to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Baystate spokesman Keith O'Connor confirmed Rudin's condition Tuesday evening.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by Sgt. Christopher Furlong of the Dalton Police Department.
