Letter: Pittsfield can't saddle children with a crisis

Posted
To the editor:

I recently became aware that there are four Carol Killians in the Pittsfield area and apparently we have very different community and political views. ("Gaetani is right on plant proposal," letter, March 10).

I know as a home owner that issues of maintenance and infrastructure can only be put off so long. To hope problems will go away if we ignore them only leaves our children and grandchildren in a health and/or financial crisis.

If we all have to pay a little more to guarantee our children and grandchildren clean air and water, healthy forests and playgrounds and well-equipped schools, that is the responsibility of good citizens living in a safe and civil community.

Rev. Carol A Killian,

Pittsfield,

The writer is a retired UCC minister
