Letter: Double standards are blinding conservatives

To the editor:

I look forward to Thomas Gilardi's monthly conservative rants with amusement in the letters to the editor. As a moderate Democrat, now an independent, I'm glad he finally got off the blind support for the narcissist-in-chief, but his obsession with Hillary Clinton and the liberal Democrats continues unabated (Eagle, Dec. 4.)

Maybe Tom can explain how the coverage of the president, who had multiple accusations from women about inappropriate behavior, including his first wife, Ivana, who claims he raped her, is one-sided. And then there is that pesky Access Hollywood tape, that all of America saw and heard, that he actually apologized for publicly (a first from him), but now claims that it was doctored and not real. And how about Republican Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas, who paid $84,000 of taxpayer's money to settle a claim for sexual harassment?

More fake news?

And then we have the legendary Roy Moore, pillar of conservative society, who was removed twice as a chief justice for his evangelical obsessions with the Ten Commandments. At least four women have come forward claiming sexual harassment (one was 14-years-old), but he takes a page out of the Trump playbook and calls it fake news. That the president, who is equally as narcissistic as Roy Moore, supports him is no surprise. That the people of Alabama would support this degenerate tells you all you need to know about the relative intelligence of the voters.

When Mike Flynn drops a dime on Jared Kushner, and the president pardons everybody, including himself, maybe then the spineless Republicans will fully understand what their obsessions with Obama, Clinton and the Democrats have done to this country.

If you want to move forward in this country, you will need moderates who will reach across the aisle and work together to solve the nation's problems like Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and North Korea. We need serious people that are problem solvers, so let's get rid of Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, and elect some moderate, progressive, fiscally conservative people who will work for the betterment of all Americans, not just the rich white folks.
