With the upcoming election for the office of district attorney, the people of Berkshire County will need to decide whether they want a candidate who is experienced and proficient in the intricate operation of the district attorney's office or one who is totally unfamiliar with this area of the judicial system.

For the past 28 years, Acting District Attorney Paul Caccaviello has progressed through the ranks of the DA's office, which gives him a knowledge base that no other candidate will ever possess. Furthermore, Paul's actions and morals during this period have gained him the respect of his colleagues, which is another quality that is very hard to attain these days.

Unfortunately, he will probably be chastised by his opposition for taking over the reins of the district attorney's office prior to the fall elections, but he was and will always be the right person to take on this enormous undertaking. Change is good when it is warranted, but not in this case. The residents of Berkshire County deserve a district attorney who cares about them, and Paul Caccaviello is that person.
