Heydinger to run 7th Boston Marathon
Heydinger's involvement in the campaign took shape via a call for submissions from Girls on the Run International. She has run the Boston Marathon before, most recently in 2013 when she crossed the finish line four minutes ahead of the bombing. She resolved to return the following year, but a cancer diagnosis meant she would spend that year battling - and recovering - from brain surgery. When Heydinger returns to Boston this April, it will be her seventh time.
"As passionate women mentoring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, we must let them see their mentors practicing the same skills that we are sharing with them," said Heydinger. "I feel excited, nervous, proud and grateful to have this opportunity to train for and run in the 2017 Boston Marathon."
The Find Yourself, Find the Finish Line campaign focuses on themes of motivation, adversity and preparation - three elements common to every athlete's journey. Olympic Medalist Courtney Thompson, Supermodel Candice Huffine and Activist Alison Desir are among the others participating in the special event.
