Frightfully good art in Great Barrington

GREAT BARRINGTON — The results are in for the annual Great Barrington Rotary Club Halloween Window Painting Contest, featuring spooky works about town created by Berkshire Hills Regional School District art students.

Sophia Smith and Lucy Manning of Monument Mountain Regional High School were grand prize winners for their painting of a Snow White-like poisoned apple scene that appeared in the window of David Gavin Salon.

First prize for the high school submissions went to Sophie Shron (Louisa Ellis boutique); Tagan Mundy (Bizen restaurant) earned second; Braedon Rombach (Louisa Ellis) earned third; and honorable mentions went to Lovina Campetti (Snap Shop) and Automn Duke (Seeds). Helen Pajeski earned a new category prize, political satire, for her piece at Siam Square.

Monument Valley Regional Middle School first-place winners were Madeline Mason and Amber Troiano; Paige Scott and Ada Kennedy earned second and Samantha Taxter and Elliott Tucker took home third prizes.
