Zaffanella to speak at IEEE meeting

The Berkshire Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Life Affinity Group will hold a Nation Engineers Week meeting on Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Cork 'N Hearth Restaurant on Route 20.

Speakers include IEEE Region 1 Director Ronald Tabroff and Carlo Zaffanella, vice president and general manager for maritime and strategic systems for General Dynamics Mission Systems in Pittsfield. Zaffanella will present "The Berkshires and the Engineering Workforce of the 21st Century,"

BBPW holding annual mentoring meeting


Berkshire Business and Professional Women will hold its annual mentoring meeting on Monday, March 6 at Cranwell Resort, 55 Lee Road. Networking begins at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6. The registration and cancellation deadline is Wednesday, March 1.

A panel discussion, "Mentoring Stories — The Good, The Bad and The Magical — will take place. The panel includes Sandra J. Carroll, the CEO of the Berkshire County Board of Realtors; Andrea Scholler, managing director of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival; Diane Pearlman, the executive director of the Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative; and Karen Zink, the COO of Berkshire Gas. Co.

Caretaker Farm seeking members for 2017


Caretaker Farm, one of the first Community Supported Agriculture programs in the United States, has membership openings for the 2017 harvest season. The deadline for membership commitments is Friday, March 31.

To provide members with more flexibility and accessibility, the farm is offering both summer and winter CSA shares for the first time this year. The summer share includes weekly distributions beginning in early June and ending in late October.

Memberships include both a free-choice system in a weekly distribution area and an abundant selection of u-pick crops in their fields. The cost is $675 for each two-adult summer share.

1Berkshire will host its annual Career Fair on Wednesday, March 29 in Paterson Field House at Berkshire Community College, 1350 West St. The hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
