Fairview nurses achieve clinical ladder status

Four nurses were honored recently at Farview Hospital's Clinical Ladder Ceremony which recognizes the professional development, education and leadership milestones each achieved to improve their practice and the care delivered at Fairview Hospital.

- Holly LePrevost was honored for being the first nurse to present at the multidisciplinary improvement team and co-chair the CCU-sponsored Heart Healthy Night.

- Colleen Fernbecher was honored for her work in exploring the role of nurse navigators to improve quality of care for patients following a hospital stay; she also helped organize multidisciplinary improvement presentations.

- Helen Moon was honored for her leadership in Fairview's Healthy Heart Night, a community event sponsored by Fairview's CCU nurses to educate the community about heart disease.

- Lee-Ann Fleming-Hand was honored for her work developing care to better meet the needs for patients at risk of suicide, and for co-chairing Fairview's Practice Council.


Good Neighbor Fund encourages energy assistance

The sponsoring companies of the Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund continue to encourage those in temporary crisis to apply for energy assistance by visiting their local Salvation Army Corps Community Center. If there is not an office in the area, call 339-502-5900.

The Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund is a safety net for families who are in temporary crisis and do not qualify for federal and state assistance programs such as LHEAP. To determine if a household qualifies for the program, go to


Season tickets, season passes available at Saratoga

Season ticket plans and season passes for the 2017 season at Saratoga Race Course went on sale Wednesday, according to the New York Racing Association. Full-season plans, which include reserved seats for the 40-day season, will be available to purchase online through the NYRA AccountManager. The season takes place from July 21-Sept. 4. Chamber hosting after hours event

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will hold a business after hours event on Wednesday, March 22 at Love Apple Farm in Ghent, N.Y., 1421 State Route 9H. The hours are 5 to 7 p.m. All members of the business community are invited to attend. Information: 518-828-4417,


SVMC OB/GYN services now available at Pownal campus

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center gynecologist Dr. Malcolm Paine has begun seeing patients at SVMC's Pownal campus in Pownal, Vt. He offers the same services in Pownal that he currently offers at his office in Bennington, Vt. including screenings, prevention, treatment and prenatal care.

The practice at SVMC's Pownal campus opened in October 2015. It is located less than one mile north of the Massachusetts-Vermont border.
