Berkshire Bank expands scholarship awards program
Berkshire Bank has expanded its annual scholarship awards program, and this year will honor a record 35 high school seniors across the bank's six state footprint for their volunteer service.
The program will award a total of $52,500 in total scholarship dollars to students who have exemplified community service through their volunteer efforts, have been successful academically and have a financial need. Students must attend a high school that is located in a county with a Berkshire Bank office to be eligible.
Fourteen of the 35 $1,500 individuals scholarships will be awarded to students who live in Massachusetts that plan to attend a two or four year college in the fall.Students can apply online at the bank's website at www.berkshirebank.com/scholarships. All applications must be submitted online by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22.

MLSC launches application period for tax incentive program
The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center is accepting applications for a new round of the center's tax incentive program. The initiative offers tax incentives to encourage the growth of companies engaged in life sciences research and development, commercialization and manufacturing in Massachusetts.
The deadline for submitting application is noon on Thursday, Feb. 16. Applications can be submitted online at the center's website at www.masslifesciences.com. Information for potential applicants will be held in the coming weeks in various locations around the state.
Monterey resident named to state's top attorneys list
Attorney Steven J. Schwartz of Monterey, a shareholder in the Springfield law firm Schatz, Schwartz and Fentin, has been named to the 2016 Massachusetts Super Lawyers list. He has been named to the list year-after-year for more than a decade.
Schwartz is one of eight members of that firm that have been named to the list. Three other attorneys from that firm have been named to the 2016 Massachusetts Rising Stars List.Attorneys are selected from more than 70 practice areas; no more than five percent of attorneys are recognized in the state. The Super Lawyers lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazine and in regional newspapers and magazines across the country.
Applications being accepted for 2017 Local Farmer Awards
In association with Big Y Foods, the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation of Agawam is accepting applications for its third annual Local Farmer Awards. The program supports local farmers with projects that will help them compete in the marketplace.
Two regional local farm advocates, Berkshire Grown and Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CSIA) provide insight and assistance to the project.
The deadline for submitting applications is Tuesday, Jan. 31. More information is available at www.farmerawards.org.
Chamber holding annual meeting
The North Adams Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Bright Eyes Brewing. The hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Information: www.northadamschamber.com.
