Balcom wins Knights of Columbus free throw competition

Pittsfield's Ahna Balcom is a state champion. Balcom won the 12-year-old division of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition at the state championships at Ana Maria College in Paxton over the weekend.

Balcom had to compete in multiple tournaments to get to the state competition. First, she won the Pittsfield competition, then won the Berkshire County competition, and finally she won the Western Mass. title before advancing to the state championships.

Lee CTA announced spring programs

The Lee Community Tennis Association is hosting registration for spring youth programs at both Lee High School and the Lenox Community Center courts. Programs at both sites are open to all area children.

The programs offered are: Munchkin, 10-and-under, Middle and High School and USTA Junior Team Tennis U10 & U14.

All programs run on five Saturdays from this coming Saturday through May 19.

Youth Tennis Tournament

The Lee Community Tennis Association will host a youth tennis tournament on Thursday and Friday at the Lee Middle and High School courts.

Play is open to all players ages 10-18. The tournament will be team tennis format, which has co-ed teams compete in singles and doubles games.

Players can form their own teams of at least two boys and two girls, or join individually and be placed on a team.
