Barrington Stage rolls out cabaret season

PITTSFIELD — Julie Budd, Leslie Kritzer and Andrea McArdle are among the performers slated to appear this summer at Barrington Stage Company's Mr. Finn's Cabaret, located on the lower level of the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden St.

Named for William Finn, the two-time Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist of "Falsettos" and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" and artistic producer of BSC's Musical Theatre Lab, Mr. Finn's Cabaret marks its fifth season with a mix of performers from May through August in programs ranging from classic rock to Broadway, the American Songbook, jazz, folk and New York's cabaret scene.

Mr. Finn's Cabaret begins at 8 p.m. on May 21 and 22 with Tony Award-nominee Brandon Uranowitz in an evening of songs by Finn.

Budd performs her show "Remember Mr. Sinatra" at 8 p.m. on Aug. 20 and 21. When Budd was 16 years old, Sinatra personally invited her to be his special guest artist at Caesar's Palace. Selections performed with Sinatra on those nights will be performed, alongside personal stories and experiences.

After last year's sold out cabaret, Kritzer returns June 18 and 19 in "Leslie's Back! Again!" sharing more stories of her life on- and off -Broadway ("Something Rotten!" Roundabout Theatre Company's "The Robber Bridegroom"), and belting out tunes. Performances both nights begin at 8.

At 8 p.m. on Aug, 27 and 28, McArdle will perform material from The Great American Songbook, Broadway and contemporary music, along with anecdotes about the legends she has worked with and the songs that became the soundtrack of America.
