Aglet slates reading of Lauren Gunderson play
Doors open at 7 for complimentary beverages and refreshments.
In "Silent Sky," Gunderson tells the true story of Henrietta Leavitt (1868-1921), a fledgling astronomer at the turn of the century, who went beyond her job as a Harvard data entry clerk to develop significant theories regarding the universe and to influence the work of Edwin Hubble, among others. What is now known as Leavitt's Law established a way to decipher a star's distance as a function of its pulse. Hubble used her discovery to prove the universe was much larger than expected. And, in fact, expanding.
"Silent Sky" is directed by Aglet's Artistic director Macey Levin. Playing Leavitt is Caitlin Teeley. The rest of the cast includes Joan Coombs, Lori Evans, Joanna Seaton and Christopher Michael Vecchia
